RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Botanical garden in Harrogate, United Kingdom

RHS Garden Harlow Carr is a botanical garden in Harrogate spread across about 58 acres, featuring seasonal plant displays, wooded sections, and themed garden areas. The grounds also include a plant center, tea rooms, and spaces for learning about horticulture.

The site began in the 18th century when mineral springs were found on the land, which led to building a bath house and hotel in 1840. Over time this resort location transformed into the horticulture center you see today.

The Royal Horticultural Society runs this space as a place where gardeners can explore and learn from different growing methods and plant arrangements. You will see how people use the grounds to understand gardening practices that have shaped British horticultural traditions.

The garden is open daily and has pathways suited to different abilities, with some flat areas and others on slopes. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the season, as weather can change throughout your visit.

A bridge called Thaliana connects different garden sections while celebrating scientific work on the Arabidopsis plant. This shows how botanical gardens serve not just as beautiful spaces but also as places where plant research happens.
