Band on the Wall, Music venue in Northern Quarter, Manchester, England
Band on the Wall is a two-level music venue in Manchester's Northern Quarter with a main concert hall and a smaller stage in the bar area. The space hosts performances across jazz, folk, world music, blues, and contemporary genres.
The venue started as a pub in 1803 and took its current name in the 1930s when musicians began performing there. A major renovation in 2022 modernized the space and expanded its capacity significantly.
The name comes from the 1930s, when musicians performed on a raised platform attached to the wall. Today, this tradition continues through the range of music styles that fill the space regularly.
The venue is located on Swan Street and easily accessible. It opens Tuesday through Sunday with late-night hours on weekends, but remains closed Mondays.
The 2022 renovation incorporated the adjacent Cocozza Wood Building, significantly increasing capacity. This expansion allowed for flexible configurations to accommodate different types of events.
