Bayscape, Residential skyscraper in Cardiff Bay, United Kingdom
Bayscape is a residential complex in Cardiff Bay consisting of two connected apartment blocks rising 9 and 10 stories with a podium structure linking them. The ground level provides parking beneath a large deck platform and houses three commercial units within the overall building scheme.
The project gained approval in 2013 after a redesign replaced the original plan for a much taller 32-story building. This change in vision shaped the residential development that now stands at the site.
This development marks the shift of Cardiff Bay from its industrial past toward contemporary urban living. The site reflects how the area now blends residential spaces with public waterfront culture and leisure activities.
The building sits right at the waterfront of Cardiff Bay and is easily reached on foot from public pedestrian routes. Visitors can explore the surrounding area comfortably and find cafes and shops nearby.
The building uses specialized transfer beams beneath the apartment blocks that allow maximum parking space while supporting enormous weight from the residential sections above. This hidden engineering solution is not visible but shapes how the complex actually works.
