Bonython Manor, Georgian manor house in Mullion, England
Bonython Manor is a granite country house in Cornwall with a symmetrical facade featuring five upper windows, four lower windows, and a central entrance door. The building is reached by eight wide entrance steps and stands as a spaciously proportioned structure on its grounds.
The manor was built during the 1780s by William Wood, an architect trained under Thomas Edwards. The property remained in family hands for generations before passing to different owners.
The gardens show traditional English landscaping with hydrangea-lined drives and walled garden sections that visitors can explore on their walks. The estate reflects how wealthy families designed their properties with carefully constructed lakes and plant combinations.
The property is located south of Helston and is accessed via the A3083 road, where you should turn at Cury Cross Lanes. The entrance is just beyond this junction and is easy to reach by car.
The garden pathways are paved with pebbles from Loe Bar, a local geological formation with its own story. The grounds also feature an unusual quartzite lake surrounded by South African flowering plants and traditional rhododendrons.
