Blackden Manor, Grade II listed manor house in Goostrey, England.
Blackden Manor is a timber and brick manor house with two storeys and an attic in Goostrey. The original wooden frame was later covered with nineteenth-century brick, giving it its current appearance.
The manor was originally built in the sixteenth century as a timber-framed house. In the 1920s architect James Sellers carried out major restoration work and added new wings to create a courtyard layout.
The manor shows traditional English country house design through its mix of timber framing and brick, materials that were common for homes of its kind in this area.
The manor is located in a rural setting and is accessible by arrangement with guided tours at specific times. Parking is available on the property, so you can drive right up to the entrance.
Alongside the main house stands a separate brick farm building from 1709 with two storeys that served agricultural purposes. This older outbuilding has the same listed status as the manor, making it equally protected.
