Borth Wild Animal Kingdom, Animal sanctuary in Borth, United Kingdom
Borth Wild Animal Kingdom is a sanctuary spread across roughly 12 acres that houses domestic and farm animals such as pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Visitors can observe and interact with these creatures throughout the day.
The site was founded in the late 1980s by Ron and Ann Crowther as a personal hobby at Ynys Fergi before developing into a breeding program in partnership with Chester Zoo. This early passion for animal care shaped what the facility became.
The facility serves as a hands-on learning space where visitors connect directly with domestic animals through regular contact and care activities. People come here to understand how farm animals live and behave in a controlled setting.
The site operates year-round with extended hours during warmer months and reduced hours in winter to adapt to daylight and weather conditions. Scheduled animal interaction sessions are held at regular times each day to help visitors plan their experience.
A lynx escaped from the facility in 2017 and roamed the surrounding area for several days before being recaptured, an incident that drew widespread media coverage. This event brought attention to questions about animal containment and safety protocols at the site.
