Bury Camp

The hillfort spans 9.2 hectares on a triangular promontory, featuring defensive ditches 4 meters wide and outer ramparts reaching heights of 2 meters.

Archaeological excavations between 1964 and 1966 revealed evidence of human settlement from 350 BC, including tools from earlier Neolithic and Mesolithic periods.

The site contains numerous artifacts such as rotary querns, pottery fragments, and animal bones that indicate the agricultural practices of Iron Age communities.

The location requires sturdy walking shoes for exploring the earthworks, with the northeastern entrance providing the main access point to this scheduled monument.
