Sir Thomas Lloyd rebuilt the original 18th-century house in the 1850s, transforming it into a Victorian Gothic structure with architectural influences from Ireland.
The mansion contained a private chapel for Methodist worship and a baronial hall that preserved family records of the Lloyd dynasty.
The deteriorating structure requires careful navigation, and visitors should maintain distance from unstable sections of the remaining walls.
The mansion's design incorporated mock half-timber stables and service blocks that reflected architectural patterns found in Chester.
