Capel Eidalwyr

The timber-framed prefabricated structure stands at 60.2 meters elevation, featuring wall paintings in the Italianate baroque style throughout its interior space.

Italian prisoners of war converted this former dormitory into a chapel in 1940, with formal dedication taking place in 1944 during World War II.

Mario Felito created paintings using natural dyes extracted from basic materials like wood cases, cement bags, tins, and roofing felt within the chapel.

The chapel maintains its Grade II* listed building status, ensuring protection and preservation of its architectural elements for future generations to study.

The interior walls display concrete moldings that prisoners carefully scraped and painted to create the appearance of genuine marble surfaces.
