Burry Port Lighthouse, Grade II listed lighthouse in Pembrey and Burry Port Town, Wales
Burry Port Lighthouse is a white brick structure with a black gallery and red lantern positioned on the western breakwater of the harbor. The compact tower rises about 6 meters and now serves as a landmark for the waterfront area.
This structure was built in 1842 to guide ships through local waters and support the busy coal trade from the active port. As coal trade declined around 1921, it lost its original purpose.
This structure sits on the harbor breakwater and marks the maritime past of the area. Visitors can sense the connection between this former trading port and the sea while walking along the waterfront today.
This structure is accessible on foot and remains visible during daylight hours, especially when tides are low and access to the breakwater is possible. Plan your visit for good light and dry conditions to enjoy the location fully.
This structure underwent major restoration in the 1990s by Llanelli Borough Training and received a new light donated by Trinity House. The work saved it from decay and gave it a second life.
