Court Farm, Pembrey

Court Farm is a Grade II* listed building consisting of three structures: a 16th-century farmhouse with medieval foundations, an attached barn, and a later-added cowshed constructed from local sandstone. The three parts form a traditional agricultural compound with residential and working spaces arranged around the property.

The property has medieval origins that developed into a 16th-century farmstead when the Vaughan family received it as a wedding gift. This transfer marked the beginning of the family's stewardship of the estate and its subsequent evolution.

The white lime-washed walls once served as a guiding landmark for sailors navigating the treacherous Carmarthen Bay waters. This role connected the building deeply to the maritime life and rhythms of the Welsh coast community.

The Friends of Court Farm organization arranges guided visits to show visitors the building's features and its former inhabitants. It is worth checking in advance about tour availability since access depends on scheduled visits.

The barn displays defensive features suggesting it may have served military purposes during the medieval period. The estate also retained uncommon rights to shipwrecks along Cefn Sidan sands, an unusual privilege for a farm property.
