Castell Bryn Gwyn

Castell Bryn Gwyn is a circular earthwork enclosure featuring a substantial rampart that rises prominently from the surrounding landscape and encloses a large interior space. The site was originally built for ritual purposes but was later adapted and occupied as a settlement.

The site originated in the Neolithic period as a ritual gathering place and later developed into a fortified settlement during the Iron Age. Over the centuries it was used by successive cultures until occupation eventually ceased.

The site shows traces of different peoples who lived here across thousands of years, revealing how communities valued this location over time. Visitors can see how the place served different purposes for each generation that inhabited it.

The site is easily accessible with parking available nearby, from which a footpath leads directly to the remains. The path is generally walkable in normal conditions, though the ground can be uneven in places.
