Castle Arcade

Castle Arcade is a Victorian shopping gallery extending from Castle Quarter toward High Street through an L-shaped corridor with retail spaces on two levels. Ornate iron railings with ivy leaf designs and wooden brackets support the structure throughout its interior passages.

Built in 1887, the arcade features Dutch Renaissance design with a painted three-story facade and shaped gables at its entrance. It emerged during a period when Victorian cities were creating new shopping destinations.

Independent shops and cafes fill the arcade, reflecting how local people have shopped and gathered here for generations. The Victorian setting provides a traditional retail experience that feels connected to Cardiff's past.
