Castle Stuart, Category A listed tower house in Petty, Scotland

Castle Stuart is a tower house in Petty near Inverness with two round towers connected by a central block. The building sits on grounds facing Moray Firth and contains eight bedrooms throughout its restored historic spaces.

Construction took place between 1619 and 1625 under James Stuart, the 3rd Earl of Moray, on land connected to Mary, Queen of Scots. The building then lay abandoned for centuries before being restored to working order in recent times.

The interior displays handcrafted furniture made from centuries-old oak, showing traditional Scottish craftsmanship. These pieces define how the rooms feel and demonstrate how old techniques remain part of everyday use today.

The building now functions as a luxury accommodation where you can rent individual rooms or reserve the entire castle. Understand that it operates as a working private residence with limited public access.

After three centuries of abandonment, the building underwent a 15-year restoration project that brought back its original architectural features. This makes it a striking example of how a historical structure can be brought completely back to life.
