Christ Church, Anglican church in Lancaster, England
Located on Wyresdale Road, Christ Church displays Gothic Revival architecture with pointed arches, geometric tracery windows, and detailed sandstone construction throughout the building.
The construction of Christ Church began in 1855 and reached completion in 1889, initially serving as a chapel for Lancaster Grammar School and the local workhouse.
The church maintains a strong connection to Lancaster through regular Anglican services, religious ceremonies, and educational programs for community members of all ages.
Visitors can explore the church during opening hours, examining the 25-foot Derbyshire stone war memorial, marble reredos from 1916, and sandstone font from 1914.
The church received financial support from Samuel Gregson, a Member of Parliament and local industrialist, who funded its establishment and subsequent development.
