Description
Christ Church is an Anglican church on Wyresdale Road featuring Gothic Revival architecture with pointed arches, geometric tracery windows, and detailed sandstone construction. Inside you will find a Derbyshire stone war memorial, a marble reredos from 1916, and a sandstone font from 1914.
History
Construction began in 1855 and the building was completed in 1889, originally designed to serve Lancaster Grammar School and the local workhouse. The project marked an important expansion of religious facilities during this period of growth.
