The Gregson Centre

The Gregson Centre is a multi-purpose event venue in Lancaster with several spaces designed to host different kinds of gatherings and performances. The building features a main hall seating around 170 people, a smaller bar area with about 90 seats, and a separate cinema room with capacity for roughly 24 viewers.

The centre was founded in 1889 as a memorial to Henry Gregson, who served as Mayor of Lancaster, and was designed by architects Paley and Austin. The building's structure reflects the architectural styles of the late 1800s.

The venue hosts French film screenings, dance performances, and art exhibitions that shape the cultural life of the city. Visitors encounter a rotating program of events that reflects diverse artistic interests throughout the year.

The venue is easily accessible and offers flexible options for visitors, as different rooms can be used for both public and private events. It is recommended to check the current event schedule before visiting to ensure the space is open to the public.

In 2019, the building underwent complete restoration by dedicated community volunteers during a challenging period. Following this comprehensive renewal, it is now managed directly by the Gregson Community Association.
