Christ Church, Victorian church in Medlar-with-Wesham, England
Christ Church is a red brick church with pink sandstone detailing and a three-stage tower topped by an octagonal spire with green slate covering. The building was later expanded with a chancel and steeple that became defining features of its structure.
The church was designed in 1893 by the architectural firm Sharpe, Paley and Austin as one of the key projects shaping the parish during that era. Several decades later, the chancel and steeple were added, expanding upon the building's original design.
The church building maintains its role as both a religious center and an educational space where students learn about local architectural heritage.
The location is easy to reach and sits close to a limestone war memorial that is readily visible from the churchyard. The surrounding area is flat and straightforward to navigate, making access convenient for visitors of all abilities.
Christ Church represents one of only three officially listed buildings in the Medlar-with-Wesham parish, alongside a farmhouse and war memorial.
