Cleddau Bridge, Box girder bridge in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

The Cleddau Bridge spans 0.82 kilometers across the River Cleddau, connecting the towns of Neyland and Pembroke Dock in Pembrokeshire.

The bridge construction faced a tragic setback in 1970 when a section collapsed, leading to four worker fatalities and causing a delay until its completion in 1975.

The structure transformed local transportation patterns by replacing a ferry service that had operated between Hobbs Point and Neyland since 1858.

The bridge carries the A477 road, accommodates pedestrians and cyclists, and handles an average of 10,905 vehicles daily since becoming toll-free in March 2019.

The bridge construction required extensive redesigns following the 1970 incident, resulting in a final cost of £11.83 million, substantially higher than initial estimates.
