Cleddau Bridge, Box girder bridge in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
The Cleddau Bridge is a box girder bridge that crosses the River Cleddau, connecting Neyland and Pembroke Dock. It carries a main road with lanes for motor traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists traveling across the water.
The bridge was completed in the 1970s after construction encountered a serious incident that caused delays. Despite this setback, the structure was eventually finished and became an important link for the region.
The bridge replaced a ferry service that once connected the two shores across the water. This shift changed how locals and travelers moved through the region.
The bridge is easily reached via a main road and accommodates all types of traffic. Traveling during quieter times of day helps you experience the crossing with lighter traffic flow.
The initial budget was far lower than the final cost, as construction complications forced engineers to redesign major sections. This made the project significantly more expensive than originally planned.
