St Francis Xavier, Minor basilica in Everton, Liverpool, England
The stone church rises above Salisbury Street with Gothic Revival features, including a prominent spire added in 1883 and large stained glass windows.
Local Catholics established the church in 1848, and architect Edmund Kirby expanded it with the Sodality Chapel in 1888 to accommodate more worshippers.
The interior presents Victorian statuary, vestments, and artistic elements, including works by sculptor Conrad Dressler and stained glass by Hardman and Powell.
The church maintains regular services at 10:15 AM on Sundays and noon on weekdays, with the building open most mornings for visitors.
Eight bells cast in 1920 ring from the tower, while the Gray & Davison organ from 1849 continues to provide music for services.
