Everton Road drill hall, Military training facility in Everton, Liverpool, England
Everton Road Drill Hall is a volunteer training facility in Liverpool made from three connected Georgian townhouses. The interior was configured in the late 1800s to create open training spaces for military and physical activities.
The building was constructed in 1884 as headquarters for the 19th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers and supported local military training. The unit was later reorganized as the 6th Volunteer Battalion of the King's Regiment and continued operating from this location.
The building shows how Liverpool's communities organized their own defense forces and training. Today the space tells the story of this local involvement in military preparation and service.
The building now houses a karate club that has occupied the space since 1990 and offers training to the local community. Check in advance whether public access is available or if you need to coordinate a visit around training schedules.
Plans are being developed to transform this former military building into a center for veterans that will include 50 housing units. This project would give the historic facility a new purpose while keeping it connected to its military legacy.
