Dome Cinema, Historic movie theater in Worthing, England
Dome Cinema is a Neo-Classical building on Marine Parade housing three screening rooms with period architectural details throughout. The spaces vary in size to accommodate different types of film presentations.
The building opened in 1911 as the Kursaal and was renamed The Dome during World War I following a public naming competition. This change reflected shifting attitudes toward entertainment venues during that period.
The cinema maintains traditional seating and shows both new releases and classic films across its restored screening spaces.
The venue offers screening spaces of different sizes for comfortable viewing experiences. You can easily find multiple film showings across the building throughout the day.
The building originally housed a roller skating rink and an upstairs cinema called the Electric Theatre, which was West Sussex's first paid-admission cinema. This layered history reveals how the space evolved to become a dedicated film venue.
