Dukes Meadows, Public riverside park in Chiswick, England.
Dukes Meadows is a riverside park in Chiswick, west London, running along the south bank of the Thames with open grassland, sports pitches, community gardens, and a children's play area. A paved path follows the water's edge and links directly into the Thames Path walking route.
The land originally belonged to the Duke of Devonshire and was purchased by the local council in 1923 to create a public recreation space from what had been farmland. Over the following decades, sports facilities and green areas were gradually added to serve a growing residential neighbourhood.
The park sits along a well-used stretch of the Thames Path, where joggers, dog walkers, and cyclists all share the same riverside route on any given day. On weekends, the sports pitches and open lawns fill with local clubs and families, giving the place a strong sense of community use.
The park is within walking distance of train and bus stops in Chiswick, and there is also parking available on site for those arriving by car. Paths close to the river bank can become soft and muddy after rain, so sturdy footwear is a good idea during wetter months.
A footbridge opened in 2023 crosses the railway line that cuts through the park, linking sections that were previously separated for decades. This connection has made it possible to walk a continuous loop through the park without needing to leave or double back.
