East Runton Windmill, Grade II listed windmill in East Runton, England.
East Runton Windmill is a five-story tower mill made of brick with cement rendering, standing on Drake's Hill. The building features four double-shuttered sails mounted on an iron frame and has been converted into a home while keeping its original form.
The mill first appeared on Bryant's map of Norfolk in 1826 and operated until 1908 under different millers. It passed through several hands, including those of Joseph Baker and Ronald Hall, before falling into disrepair.
The mill reflects a time when Norfolk depended on such structures to grind grain for local farms. These mills were vital parts of village life during the 1800s.
The mill stands on Drake's Hill in East Runton and is a private home that can be viewed from the outside. It sits in a rural setting, so visitors should expect quiet country roads and plan accordingly for transportation.
The building received the Graham Allen Award in 2001 for its restoration project that saved it from decay. This recognition marked a turning point when it transformed from an abandoned structure into a preserved landmark.
