Ellisland Farm, Writers' house museum in Auldgirth, Scotland

The farm complex stands on a gravelly bank above River Nith, featuring a kitchen, bedrooms, company room, and sitting room with river views.

Robert Burns signed a seventy-six-year lease for Ellisland Farm in February 1788, receiving £300 from Patrick Miller to construct the buildings and stock.

During his residence from 1788 to 1791, Burns wrote over 130 songs and poems, including Auld Lang Syne and Tam o'Shanter at this location.

The museum displays extensive collections of vintage agricultural implements and maintains wheelchair accessibility throughout the main exhibition areas.

Burns introduced the first Ayrshire cattle to Dumfriesshire at Ellisland Farm, initiating changes in local dairy farming practices and milk production methods.
