Fleet Pond

Fleet Pond is an artificial lake with water covering around 141 acres, surrounded by heathland, woods, reeds, and marshy areas. The site contains distinct habitats that support different types of wildlife throughout the year.

Fleet Pond was created as an artificial reservoir and later designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest to protect its ecological value. This protection status ensures the site remains safeguarded from development and changes.

The Fleet Pond Society manages the site and welcomes people who come to watch birds and enjoy the water. You will see local photographers and nature enthusiasts here most days, especially at dawn when wildlife is most active.

The site has several walking routes ranging from 1 to 4 kilometers and offers free parking plus wheelchair-accessible paths throughout. Early morning visits are best if you want to spot wildlife and enjoy a quieter experience.

The pond supports an impressive range of reptiles and birds, including rare bat species such as noctule bats. This variety of creatures makes it a notable location for wildlife diversity in the region.
