Minley Manor, Grade II* listed English country house in Blackwater and Hawley, England.

Description

Minley Manor is a country house with French Gothic architecture featuring detailed stonework, multiple towers, and ornamental details across its exterior. The building sits within extensive landscaped gardens and woodland grounds that form part of a historically significant estate.

History

The manor was designed and built between 1858 and 1860 by architect Henry Clutton for Raikes Currie, a banker and partner in Glyn Mills. The original owner later expanded the estate grounds, establishing its current substantial size.

Culture

The house appeared in various film and television productions where it was often dressed to look like a French château or other European setting. This filming history has made it recognizable to audiences who may have seen it without knowing its real identity.

Practical

The property is located north of the M3 motorway junction 4A, positioned between Farnborough and Yateley. Access comes via local roads, and visitors should be prepared for paths that may be uneven or unpaved in areas with trees and vegetation.

Did you know?

A long tree-lined avenue of Wellingtonia trees stretches for about 600 meters leading to the house entrance and creates a striking arrival experience. This distinctive approach road has appeared in many film and television productions, making it one of the most recognizable features of the property.
