Foel y Geifr

Foel y Geifr, Mountain summit in Gwynedd, Wales.

Foel y Geifr is a mountain summit in Gwynedd, Wales that reaches 626 meters in elevation. The peak sits on grassland topped with a stone marker, with heathery slopes and boggy ground dropping away on all sides.

This peak forms the eastern edge of the Arans mountain group and is part of the Hirnant horseshoe circuit. It anchors the western end of the Aran Fawddwy range in this highland region.

The Welsh name Foel y Geifr represents the traditional language preservation in Wales, reflecting the strong connection between landscape and local nomenclature.

Come prepared with sturdy hiking boots and weatherproof gear, as conditions on the mountain can change quickly. A map or GPS device helps with navigation across the mountain trails and the boggy terrain that surrounds the peak.

The summit forms part of a dramatic rocky wall on the western side of Cwm Hirnant valley, standing alongside Trum y Gwragedd and Foel Goch. Together these three peaks create a striking backdrop when viewed from the valley floor below.
