Gotham House, Grade II* listed building in Tiverton, England
The Georgian merchant's townhouse features Flemish bond red brickwork and a symmetrical five-bay front supported by four prominent columns on Phoenix Lane.
Following the devastating Tiverton fire of 1731, George Davey, a clothing merchant and Mayor of Tiverton, constructed Gotham House in the early eighteenth century.
The interior maintains eighteenth-century elements including a library with period books, a mahogany staircase, and a marble mantelpiece with Corinthian columns and cherubs.
The building currently functions as offices for Ashford's Solicitors, with the forecourt walls and entrance gates maintaining their original placement since 1952.
Documents bearing Oliver Cromwell's signature were discovered in the basement of Gotham House during renovation work conducted by architects Clement Toy and Raymond Erith.
