Grove Park Cemetery

Grove Park Cemetery stretches across 6.5 hectares southeast of Grove Park Estate and is bordered by metal fences and brick walls. A curving pathway divides the burial sections and passes geometric flower beds and mature trees.

The cemetery was founded in 1935 to address growing burial needs. The grounds contain 56 Commonwealth service graves from World War II and a Portland stone memorial marking that period.

The central chapel shows crafted architecture with wooden beams, tiled roof, and pointed windows typical of the 1930s. Its design fits the municipal style of that era and creates a calm backdrop among the graves.

Entry is through wrought-iron gates on Marvels Lane, leading to a broad tarmac drive. The grounds are flat and have good paths, making it easy to walk and explore.

An Art Deco drinking fountain near the main roundabout marks the formal opening by the mayor. This fountain is a valued relic from that era and often goes unnoticed by visitors.
