The cemetery spans 6.5 hectares southeast of Grove Park Estate, featuring metal fences, brick walls, and a curving walkway separating different burial sections.
Established in 1935 to address burial capacity needs, the cemetery includes 56 Commonwealth service graves from World War II and a Portland stone memorial.
The central chapel displays Vernacular architecture with wooden construction, tiled roof, and Gothic-style lancet windows, reflecting 1930s municipal design principles.
Entry through wrought-iron gates on Marvels Lane leads to a broad tarmac drive, with the grounds containing geometrically shaped flower beds and mature trees.
An Art Deco drinking fountain near the main rondpoint commemorates the opening by Mayor Cllr J E Pearson JP on June 1, 1935.
