HMS St Christopher

HMS St Christopher was a naval training base located in Fort William that prepared personnel for maritime combat operations. The station included docking facilities at Corpach in Loch Linnhe, where vessels could access deep water for exercises and repairs.

The base was established in 1940 and operated as a training center for naval forces from multiple countries during the Second World War. It closed in 1944 after serving as a key facility for preparing personnel for maritime combat missions.

The naval establishment transformed Fort William into a military center, integrating naval personnel into the local community through accommodation in hotels and purpose-built structures.
