Jaywick Martello Tower
Jaywick Martello Tower, Fortification tower in Jaywick, England.
The circular defense structure reaches 10 meters in height with walls measuring between 2 to 3 meters in thickness, constructed using 750,000 London Clay bricks.
Built in 1809 as part of a network of 29 coastal towers along eastern England, this fortification served to protect against potential Napoleonic invasions.
The tower contains exhibits on the ground floor featuring a replica cannon, while the first floor serves as an arts space for temporary exhibitions.
The tower welcomes visitors for £1 admission fee for adults, with free entry for children and complimentary parking facilities near the premises.
Three sea-facing cannons originally mounted on the roof maintained their installation points, preserving the evidence of the tower's military configuration.
