Hendon Park is a 12-hectare green space featuring tennis courts, basketball facilities, and an outdoor gym area set among mature trees and maintained grass fields. The various sports facilities are spread throughout the grounds, creating different zones for active recreation and movement.
The land was part of the medieval Steps Fields estate owned by the Goodyer family until 1868, when the Kemp family acquired it. It was later converted into a public park by Hendon Council.
The Holocaust Memorial Garden with its hedge-enclosed pond provides a quiet space for remembrance within the park grounds. Visitors find a place to pause and reflect on this important history while surrounded by nature.
The park is best reached by Northern line to Hendon Central station, though several bus routes including 113, 143, 186, and 362 also stop nearby. Visitors should expect wet pathways during rainy weather, especially across the grass areas.
One of London's largest Japanese maple trees grows here, receiving recognition as one of the Great Trees of London in 2008. This remarkable specimen attracts photographers and nature enthusiasts throughout the seasons.
