Kimmerghame House, Category B listed mansion in Scottish Borders, United Kingdom
Kimmerghame House is a mansion on the south bank of Blackadder Water in the Scottish Borders. Parts of the original structure in Scottish baronial style, designed in 1859, remain visible today.
David Bryce designed the building in 1851 for the Swinton family. A fire during electrical installations in 1938 damaged large parts of the house severely.
The Swinton family has lived on the estate for generations, shaping local life in the area. Actress Tilda Swinton spent her childhood here before gaining international recognition.
The estate sits roughly 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Duns and remains privately occupied. Visitors cannot enter or tour the grounds.
Some wooden paneling and furnishings from the earlier building survived the fire. They were incorporated into the rebuilt structure and remain in place today.
