Isis Bridge, Road bridge in Oxford, England.
The Isis Bridge is a road bridge that spans the Thames south of Oxford city center. It features three continuous steel girder spans with a reinforced concrete deck crossing the river between Sandford Lock and Iffley Lock.
The bridge opened in 1965 as part of Oxford's Ring Road project designed to improve traffic flow. A major restoration with new protective coatings and structural reinforcement took place in 2003.
The bridge links communities on both sides of the Thames and plays a practical role in Oxford's daily transportation patterns. Local residents and travelers rely on it to move between different parts of the city quickly.
The bridge carries the A423 road across the Thames and handles thousands of vehicles daily. It provides access for travelers on foot and bicycle, though automobile traffic makes up the majority of its use.
The bridge construction required 5,000 square meters of steel and underwent a complete coating system application with strengthening work in 2003.
