Levenhall Links, Recreation area in East Lothian, Scotland.
Levenhall Links is a 134-hectare coastal area featuring shallow pools, a boating lake, and extensive walking paths along the Firth of Forth. The landscape includes water features and routes that lead through different parts of the site.
The land emerged through reclamation from the sea using pulverized fuel ash from Cockenzie Power Station, transforming the coastline during the industrial period. This transformation created new terrain from industrial byproducts.
The location reflects Scottish outdoor traditions, functioning as a practice ground for golf and hosting community gatherings. These spaces connect visitors with how locals spend their leisure time in this coastal setting.
Access is through Hope Place with designated parking and clear pathways leading to the seawall and bird watching points. The routes are well marked, allowing visitors to navigate the grounds easily.
The site contains two sections designated as Special Protection Areas, providing essential roosting grounds for wading birds between Cramond and Aberlady. These protections make it a significant refuge for numerous bird species.
