Langwith College, University college in Heslington, England.
Langwith College is a college of the University of York with modern buildings arranged around four separate courts on the Heslington East campus. The site includes separate residential blocks, study spaces, computer facilities, and shared dining areas for about 650 students.
The college was founded in 1965 as one of the founding colleges of the University of York. Queen Elizabeth II performed the official opening ceremony.
The Norman Rea Gallery here is the only student-run art exhibition space at universities across the United Kingdom. Visitors can see rotating shows organized and curated by students themselves.
The college sits on the modern Heslington East campus and is easy to reach on foot once you navigate the site. The best time to visit is outside exam periods when campus life is more relaxed and more activities are happening.
Jimi Hendrix performed at the college in 1967, leading to the name Hendrix Hall for the former building. This detail from the campus's early music history often goes unnoticed but remains a fascinating part of the college's story.
