Live Theatre

Live Theatre is a performance venue and Grade II listed building complex on the Quayside, comprising five connected historic structures. The site features a main theatre seating around 170 people, a studio space, rehearsal rooms, and an adjacent garden area for outdoor presentations.

The venue opened in 1982 when a collection of protected historic buildings along the Quayside were converted into a theatre. This establishment marked a turning point for the cultural development of the waterfront and created a dedicated centre for contemporary performance in the region.

The venue showcases contemporary work and supports emerging playwrights through staged productions and creative development. Local artists and regional talent find a home here for experimental and original theatrical voices.
