Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Underground slate mine in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Wales.
The Llechwedd Slate Caverns extend more than 500 feet below ground through a network of illuminated chambers and tunnels carved into the mountain.
The mine began operations in 1836 under Greaves Welsh Slate and continues to extract slate while offering educational tours about Victorian mining methods.
The Victorian Village section recreates 19th-century Welsh mining life with traditional shops, a slate workshop, and demonstrations of craftsmanship techniques.
The underground temperature remains at 54 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year, with two distinct tour options available for exploring different sections.
The facility features the world's only subterranean playground with giant trampolines suspended within former mining chambers.
