McLaren Technology Centre, Modern office building in Woking, United Kingdom
The McLaren Technology Centre is an office complex in Woking that serves as the headquarters of McLaren Group. Its curved glass facade wraps around an artificial lake that doubles as part of the building's cooling infrastructure.
Norman Foster designed this headquarters for McLaren Group, which was completed in 2003. The project set new benchmarks for modern automotive production facilities.
The facility includes underground exhibition spaces and educational areas where visitors learn about automotive engineering and technological developments.
The building is usually not open to visitors and operates mainly as a private workplace. Occasional events sometimes grant public access to the site.
The semi-circular structure uses a hanging glass wall without traditional vertical supports. Aluminum blades on the exterior aid ventilation and blend into the curved design.
