Moel Maelogan, Wind farm on western edge of Mynydd Hiraethog, Wales
Moel Maelogan is a wind farm operating from a hilltop location in Wales at approximately 424 meters elevation. The site includes both taller and shorter turbines arranged across the exposed summit area.
The wind farm began operations in 2002 with three turbines installed on the hilltop. A second phase added nine more turbines in 2008, expanding the overall energy production capacity at the location.
Three local farmers established Cwmni Gwynt Teg, meaning Fair Wind Company in Welsh, to transform their agricultural land into renewable energy production.
The location sits on an open hilltop with strong wind exposure and can be windy and cool throughout the year. Visitors should prepare for uneven terrain and bring appropriate weather protection.
Nine additional turbines were added in 2008 with reduced heights compared to the original three, forming a more concentrated energy production area.
