The gardens were established in 1889 on a former burial ground of St George's Hanover Square, with the site previously containing a Civil War fortification.
Ninety benches throughout the gardens were donated by American citizens and organizations due to the proximity of the former United States Embassy.
The gardens remain open from 8 AM until dusk, with nearby access from Green Park and Marble Arch underground stations.
The garden features a collection of trees including Australian silver wattle, Canary Islands date palm, dawn redwood, and chusan palm species.
