National Motorcycle Museum

The National Motorcycle Museum is a museum in Solihull that houses more than 1000 British motorcycles from around a century of production, arranged in five exhibition halls in chronological order. The collection features machines from well-known makers such as Norton, Triumph, and other classic British brands.

The museum was founded in 1984 and started with around 350 motorcycles before expanding its collection significantly over the years. The machines in the halls document the development of British motorcycle manufacturing from the early 20th century onward.

The collection shows how British motorcycles shaped generations of riders and which brands like BSA and Triumph remain recognized today. Visitors can see how these machines were used in everyday life and what role they played in British engineering heritage.

The museum is located near Birmingham Airport and is easy to reach with good parking available on site. The five exhibition halls are thoughtfully arranged so visitors can follow a logical path through the history without getting lost.

The collection includes the Brough Superior Golden Dream, a special motorcycle designed specifically to minimize vibrations during riding. This model shows the experimental spirit of British engineers tackling practical challenges.
