New Theatre, Student theatre in University Park Campus, Nottingham, United Kingdom
The New Theatre is a student-run performance venue on Nottingham University's campus, housed in its own freestanding building. The structure contains rehearsal rooms and studio spaces where productions are created and staged throughout the year.
The theatre was founded in 1969 and originally occupied space within the Archaeology and Classics building on campus. A major renovation project in 2012 moved it into its own dedicated facility.
The theatre presents more than thirty productions yearly, mixing classical plays with contemporary works and scripts written by students themselves. Student hands shape every aspect of these shows, from acting to technical work to creative direction.
Tickets are available for purchase directly, and the website lists upcoming shows and production details. The venue is most active during the academic year when most productions are scheduled and performed.
The theatre maintains an online archive with show details, posters, cast information, and production photos spanning back to the 1950s. This digital collection offers a window into decades of theatrical work created on campus.
