Over Norton Park, Country estate in Over Norton, Cotswolds, England.
Over Norton Park is a country estate north of Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, covering 210 acres of farmland, gardens, mature trees, and rolling fields. The property continues to operate as a working farm, maintaining its agricultural character across pastures, cropland, and farm buildings.
The property came into the Dawkins family hands in 1726 when James Dawkins, son of a Jamaican-based colonel, purchased the land. About 150 years later, William Gregory Dawkins commissioned a replacement for the original Georgian house.
The estate shows how farming and land ownership have been intertwined here, with working families shaping the landscape through their daily practices and long-term commitment to the property.
Access to the grounds is restricted since it is a private property still operating as a working farm. Visitors need prior permission to enter and should keep in mind that agricultural activities occur throughout the year.
The current main house was built in 1874 as a replacement for the earlier Georgian structure, reflecting the Victorian era's tendency to update older country properties. This architectural change happened while the estate continued its farming operations without interruption.
