Oozells Street Board School, Gothic Revival school building in Birmingham, England

The Oozells Street Board School features pointed arches, ornate stonework details, and a reconstructed tower with a steel girder frame structure.

Built in 1878 by architect John Henry Chamberlain, this Victorian educational institution initially served 807 primary school children in the Birmingham area.

The structure now functions as the Ikon Gallery, a contemporary art venue that opened in 1998 following a £4.7 million renovation project.

Located near Broad Street and surrounded by the Brindleyplace development, the Grade II listed building maintains its original architectural elements.

The building's tower, demolished in 1976 due to safety concerns, was later reconstructed during the 1990s renovation using modern engineering techniques.
