Birmingham Municipal Bank headquarters, Grade II listed bank building on Broad Street, Birmingham, England
The Birmingham Municipal Bank headquarters presents a neoclassical stone facade with bronze elements facing the current Centenary Square in central Birmingham.
The financial institution, designed by Thomas Cecil Howitt and completed in 1933, operated as the Birmingham Municipal Bank until its conversion to a trustee savings bank in 1976.
The former banking hall and vaults now host exhibitions, workshops, and performances as part of the University of Birmingham's community engagement initiative.
The building functions as an educational center with spaces for student startups, research facilities, and a public cafe accessible through both front and rear entrances.
The structure maintains its original banking vaults beneath street level, which remain intact and open for visitors to explore the heritage of Birmingham's financial past.
