Pilgrim Fathers Memorial, Historical memorial in Fishtoft, England
The granite memorial stands on the north bank of The Haven, marking the location where the Pilgrim Fathers attempted their first escape to Holland.
Established in 1957 during the 350th anniversary of the 1607 event, the memorial commemorates the Separatists who were arrested while seeking religious freedom.
The General Society of Mayflower Descendants contributed funds to create this memorial, connecting American and British heritage through this significant location.
The memorial includes updated inscriptions and informational panels that detail the events of 1607 and the subsequent journey of the Pilgrim Fathers.
Located at Scotia Creek, the memorial received a modified inscription in 2009 to better reflect the challenges faced by the Pilgrims during their attempted escape.
