Park House School, Secondary academy school in Newbury, England.
Park House School is a state-funded secondary school in Newbury, West Berkshire, set on former parkland along Andover Road. The building includes two libraries and a large number of internet-connected computers spread across its learning spaces.
The school started out as a comprehensive under the oversight of West Berkshire Education Authority. In 2011 it converted to academy status, which gave it greater independence from the local authority in how it is run.
The school is divided into four house groups, each named after a former student who went on to achieve something in sport, and each led by staff and older pupils. This system shapes daily life at school and builds connections between year groups that would otherwise have little contact.
The school sits along Andover Road on the southern side of Newbury and is straightforward to find from the town centre. Because it is an active school, visitor access is generally limited and it is best to arrange any visit in advance.
The school has a Wellness Centre that brings together a fitness area, a cooking space and an IT training room under one roof. This combination of physical health, food preparation and digital skills in a single space is unusual for a secondary school.
