Portsmouth Pyramids Centre, Indoor water park in Southsea, England
Portsmouth Pyramids Centre is an indoor leisure complex in Southsea, on the seafront in Portsmouth, England, with swimming pools, a gym, and a children's adventure play area. The building is easy to spot from the promenade thanks to its pyramid-shaped glass roof.
The centre opened in 1988, replacing the older Rock Gardens Pavilion that previously stood on the same seafront site. It was part of a broader effort to renew leisure facilities along the Southsea waterfront during that period.
The venue transformed into a music performance space with a capacity of 1,150 people, hosting bands like Arctic Monkeys and The Darkness.
Weekends and afternoons tend to be the busiest times, so a weekday morning visit is usually more comfortable. The complex sits right on the Southsea seafront, making it easy to combine with a walk along the promenade.
At one point the venue hosted live music concerts for around 1,150 people, with bands such as Arctic Monkeys and The Darkness performing there. Few visitors today connect this seafront leisure building with its past life as a concert space.
