Poolsbrook Country Park

Poolsbrook Country Park is an expansive green space featuring woodland areas, open meadows, multiple lakes, and children's play equipment. A network of pathways crosses the site, connecting different sections for visitors to explore on foot or by bicycle.

This green space developed during the 1990s from the former site of a coal mining operation that had closed. The site was transformed from an industrial area into a public nature space.

This place serves as a local meeting spot where visitors can enjoy outdoor leisure throughout the year, from walking woodland paths to gathering by the water.

The park has free parking available and allows pedestrian access throughout the day. The terrain is relatively flat with well-marked pathways, making it easy for visitors to navigate and choose their own route through the site.

The site has been designated for its nature conservation value, hosting uncommon plant species and a population of Water Voles that thrive in the lakes and wetland areas. This recognition reflects how successfully the former mining land has been restored for wildlife.
